Molecular sieve desiccant is a material used to remove water and other polar molecules from gases and liquids by selectively adsorbing them into its porous structure. It is composed of synthetic zeolite, a crystalline aluminosilicate material with uniform pore sizes that can trap molecules based on their size and polarity. Molecular sieve desiccants are commonly used in industrial applications such as natural gas purification, air conditioning systems, and drying of solvents and chemicals.
It meets Mil Spec 3464 Type I & II, as well as DIN55473 compliant for direct food contact and can be used in a wide range of industries from military/government to consumer applications.
Available in a variety of quantities and sizes, the term "unit" is a quantity of desiccant, which will absorb a set percentage of its weight at certain levels of humidity.
Here are some common characteristics of molecular sieve desiccants:
Highly porous: Molecular sieve desiccants have a highly porous structure with uniform pore sizes that enable efficient and selective adsorption of molecules.
Selective adsorption: Due to their specific pore size and polarity, molecular sieve desiccants can selectively adsorb water and other polar molecules while allowing non-polar molecules to pass through.
High adsorption capacity: Molecular sieve desiccants have high adsorption capacities, meaning they can remove large quantities of water and other molecules from gases and liquids.
Regenerable: Molecular sieve desiccants can be regenerated by heating or using pressure swing techniques, which allows them to be reused multiple times.
Stability: Molecular sieve desiccants are chemically stable and resistant to degradation, making them suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.
Compatibility: Molecular sieve desiccants are compatible with a wide range of chemicals and materials, making them suitable for a variety of applications.
Low dust generation: Molecular sieve desiccants typically generate lower levels of dust than other types of desiccants, which can be beneficial in certain applications such as electronics manufacturing.
Bead size: 1.7-2.5 or 3.0-5.0(mm)
Water content: less than 2%
Moisture absorption rate: 28%
Wrapping film: tyvek, non-woven or OPP
